CleanMed Panel Focuses on GHSI

May 18, 2008, GHSI Press Release

The final plenary session at the annual CleanMed conference in Pittsburgh on May 22 is entitled, "Future of Sustainability in Health Care: The Global Health and Safety Initiative." From 3:00 to 4:15 PM, Pat Burdullis of Catholic Healthcare West, Kathy Gerwig of Kaiser Permanente, Robin Guenther (FAIA, LEED AP) from Perkins+Will, Bob Eisenman from GHSI, and Christina Ayers (AIA, LEED AP) from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation will discuss how the creation of GHSI will address the issues raised earlier at the CleanMed conference.

GHSI was formally launched at a press conference in Oakland, California last October when some of the leading healthcare systems and nonprofits joined together to create a first-of-its-kind sector-wide partnership to green the healthcare industry and improve patient and worker health and safety.

The Global Health and Safety Initiative (GHSI) is a sector-wide collaboration to transform the way that healthcare designs, builds and operates its facilities, as well as the products used within those facilities.
